Allergens at work

A healthy workplace has an impact on your bottom line.

Book a workplace assessment Book a workplace assessment Employee productivity and wellbeing plummet if your building is hazardous. I conduct healthy workplace assessments to identify what could be wrong.

A hazardous workplace = unhappy employees.

Imagine this: you’ve gone out of your way to create the perfect place of work.

You train leaders on how to be empathetic and compassionate. You provide a range of work perks including annual retreats and wellness programmes.

No matter what you do, though, your employees are unproductive, unhealthy and unhappy.

This is what happens if you’re unaware of the issues that lurk (literally) behind your walls.

This is what a healthy workplace can help you identify. It’s what I do at Building Harmony.

Do you have silent thieves in your workplace?

The wellbeing and productivity of your teams can be affected by any one of these issues or a combination of them. These could be the reason behind high rates of absenteeism as well.

Mould caused by high levels of dampness and moisture

Indoor air pollution leading to poor air quality and respiratory conditions

Your building contains toxic construction material that is bad for your health

Electromagnetic radiation caused by dirty electricity and electronic devices

Contaminated sources of water that could lead to problems down the line

      FAQ

      FAQ

      Is my workplace unhealthy?

Many of the issues that make your workplace unhealthy may be silent and invisible.

That’s why if you notice that your teams are disengaged, lack motivation, are unproductive, unhappy, take plenty of sick leave, or suffer from respiratory issues in the absence of any other causes, your workplace is probably very unhealthy.

      Is electromagnetic sensitivity real?

Electromagnetic sensitivity is a phenomenon that has been studied extensively. There is evidence that excessive exposure to digital devices including laptops, smartphones, Wi-Fi routers and even dirty electricity can lead to symptoms like:

      • Headaches and migraines
      • Sleep problems
      • Concentration difficulty
      • Fatigue
      • Anxiety and depression

What does a workplace assessment do?

A healthy workplace assessment will investigate things like air quality and indoor air pollution, water contamination, mould and dampness, building material, and electromagnetic radiation, primarily.

Your service provider will also look at other elements of a building’s health in this process.

What does a building biologist do?

As a building biologist, I help you:

        • Identify silent thieves in your environment
        • Recommend how you can address these issues
        • Help you understand why you (or your team) may be suffering from undiagnosed health issues
        • Show you how to create an enriching workplace or home

What are the organisational impacts of an unhealthy workplace?

        • An unhealthy and unhappy workforce
        • Low levels of productivity (and a subsequent hit to your bottom line)
        • Lower output owing to high levels of absenteeism
        • A bleak workplace that does not inspire loyalty or confidence among your teams
